Summer Sailing Trips

Camping & Sail

Trip description

Camping & Sail: an immersive Arctic adventure

If you’re after a wild and immersive Arctic experience, our Camping&Sail is your ticket to a wild adventure!

You’ll camp in Norway’s most unique and secluded spots, only accessible by boat. It’s the perfect place to disconnect and enjoy total privacy away from crowds.

Our traditional wooden sailboat has the lowest mast height in all Lofoten Islands, and that allows us to sail under bridges and venture into hidden coves that other vessels simply can’t reach.

This Norwegian sailing expedition takes you off the beaten path. It offers you nature at its rawest, picturesque starry nights and the freedom to explore the unspoiled Arctic wilderness like you’ve never seen before.

What happens if the weather is bad?

What happens if the weather is bad during a Camping & Sail expedition in the Lofoten Islands?

The weather in the Lofoten Islands can change quickly, but that’s part of the adventure. We adapt the itinerary daily based on the forecast. Light rain won’t stop us, it's totally normal
here and often followed by the most stunning rainbows. With the right gear, we can enjoy the experience in any conditions. And if the weather gets too extreme, we’ll shift the plan, find a sheltered bay, or warm up in a nearby sauna.

How do we sleep when there’s 24-hour daylight?

How do we sleep with 24-hour daylight and the Midnight Sun while camping in Norway?

The Midnight Sun can be surprising, but most people get used to it fast. Our tents are equipped with light-blocking fabric, and we also provide sleep masks to help you rest comfortably even when it’s bright outside.

Can we flip the schedule and explore at night, then sleep during the day?

Can we camp and hike under the Midnight Sun, then sleep during the day?

Definitely! That’s actually one of the highlights of this trip. If your group prefers to camp and hike under the Midnight Sun, and rest when it’s quiet and warm, we’ll adapt the weekly plan accordingly. Flexibility is key on board.

What temperatures should we expect in summer?

What summer temperatures should we expect on a Camping & Sail trip in Northern Norway?

Summer in the Lofoten Islands can range from warm and sunny (~20°C) to chilly and wet, especially in coastal or mountainous areas. We recommend dressing in layers and using windproof/waterproof outerwear. You’ll receive a complete packing guide after booking.

Is it possible to do whale watching during the trip?

Is whale watching included on a Camping & Sail trip in the Lofoten Islands?

Yes! Orca sightings in Northern Norway are common during the summer. We’ve been lucky to encounter them ourselves! While we cannot guarantee wildlife encounters, we always keep a keen lookout for marine life during our Arctic sailing adventures. If we do spot whales or dolphins, we’ll take the time to observe them respectfully and from a safe distance.

Can we swim during the trip?

Can we swim during a Camping & Sail adventure in Arctic Norway?

Yes. When the captain says it’s safe, you’re welcome to jump from the boat and swim in the crystal-clear Arctic waters. It’s cold, but incredibly refreshing! Always ask the captain before swimming, as safety is our top priority.

What makes this camping and sailing trip in Northen Norway so special?

What makes this Arctic Camping & Sail trip in Northern Norway so unique?

This Arctic sailing adventure is truly one of a kind. It takes you to places that are inaccessible by car, like Norwegian hidden beaches, remote fjords, and wild islands untouched by mass tourism.

Our sailboat has an 18-meter mast, which allows us to pass under low bridges and into narrow, less-traveled channels that most boats can’t navigate. That means you’ll experience exclusive anchorages and secret spots far from the crowds. True wilderness sailing and camping in one of the most stunning regions on Earth.

Can we take a shower on the boat?

Can I take a hot shower on board the Camping & Sail boat in Norway?

Yes, absolutely! Our sailboat is equipped with both an indoor and an outdoor shower, and both have hot water. After a long day of hiking, sailing, or camping, you can freshen up in comfort… even in the Arctic!
